Rejected petition Scrap plans for proposed Congestion Zone Extension
Scrap plans to extend Londons Congestion Zone in line with the TFL Bail Out.
More details
With the already announced extensions of the Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) set to come into play, the plans to extend the Congestion Zone would cripple working class families ability to commute to work in a time where public transport is increasingly dangerous due to the widespread COVID-19 pandemic.
Should the Congestion Zone be extended, the £15 daily charge (£75 weekly based on a 5 day working week) coupled with the new ULEZ extension (£12.50 daily) could see charges rise to £137.50 weekly

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
It has been reported that the UK Government has suggested that London's congestion zone be extended, but doing so would be a matter for the London Assembly and the London Mayor.
The London Assembly has its own petitions process. You can find out more about how to petition the London Assembly here:

The latest Government bailout does not include any requirement to extend the congestion zone: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-bailout-to-keep-london-transport-running
