Closed Ensure medical and dental students are paid whilst on placement

Such students often graduate with debts of £100K+. This can lead to new graduates doing extra hours (often illegally) to pay off debts. Tired staff can put public safety at risk. It also limits career choice. Specialties with no out of hours e.g. urology pay less but still such doctors are needed!

Provide pay whilst student doctors and dentists are working on placement to earn a living for their family and increase mental well-being.

Without pay, medical and nursing students are at high risk of giving up, they don't feel valued and barely have any time to work around the course to support their children or families. To increase mental well-being and to ensure the medical and dental workforce remains stable
