Rejected petition Continue college, school and university sport to preserve mental health.

Allow sport to continue within schools, colleges and universities all the time they remain open during the Second National Lockdown.

More details

To preserve the mental and physical health of those expected to carry on in educational settings, especially if they are far from home Many student athletes use sport as a release of the pressure they experience day to day, this year has already been stressful enough and cancelling sport would have a huge effect on the mental health and we would see repercussions of this in the years to come.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

Since you started your petition, the national lockdown in England has ended. Under the new local restriction tiers, organised outdoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes can continue (with restrictions on higher-risk contact activity in tier 3). Organised indoor sport is permitted with some restrictions in tiers 1 and 2, though there are exceptions in all tiers for indoor sport for educational purposes and supervised indoor sport and physical activity for under-18s.

See: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know

You could start a petition calling for changes to the local restriction tiers system, if there are specific changes you would like to see happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
