Closed petition Ban "Game" Bird Shooting now!
Closed on
"Game" Bird shooting should be banned in England, for the sake of the animals and for those who love and care about the wildlife here. Many Britons are against trophy hunting of rhinos and lions, yet millions of birds are killed by hunters every year. It is done by the "game" shooting industry.
Right here, in the UK, around 47 million pheasants, and 10 million red-legged partridges, are released only to be shot for "sport" by the UK's wealthy. This is an absolute disgrace. It is unnecessary cruelty.
Many in the UK have a problem with non-native species, calling for grey squirrels to be killed. Yet, the shooting industry releases non-native species, and some gamekeepers kill native predators to "protect game birds".
