Rejected petition Re-open outdoor table tennis tables and basketball courts in parks.

We would like parliament to remove fencing around outdoor table tennis tables and reopen outdoor basketball courts. These facilities are not at the epicentre of Covid-19 transmission.

More details

The transmission of Covid-19 outdoors is extremely rare. These activities are important for encouraging households to get outside and exercise and for the mental health of those who do not have access to private facilities.

Why was this petition rejected?

We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.

We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.

As of 2 December leisure and sporting facilities such as gyms, sports courts and facilities and leisure centres are allowed to reopen: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know

Reopening individual courts and other outdoor facilities is a matter for individual local authorities, not the Government or House of Commons.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
