Rejected petition Change law to create parity between cyclists/motorists and ID for e-scooters

Introduce legislation re speed/drink/drug limits for cyclists and laws specific to `criminal` cycling (ie`dangerous cycling`) with penalty points.Compulsory licence and ID for cyclists and ID for e-scooter riders. Make mandatory cycling proficiency test, use of cycle lanes and wearing of helmets.

More details

Roads need to be made safer for all users as they are now shared by more cyclists/vehicles/scooters than ever.Yet as a criminal/road traffic lawyer it`s clear that cyclists/e-scooters are not held accountable through lack of ID for dangerous activity on roads.Existing laws are arcane and so inadequate. There must be legal parity between two and four wheels for safe co-existence.I welcome growth in cycling - especially for health. But Government must recognise current situation unsafe and untenable

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. There are already laws against dangerous cycling and cycling while under the influence (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/part/I/crossheading/cycling-offences-and-cycle-racing)

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what new laws you would like the Government or Parliament to create.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
