We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Make it easier to become a deputy for a person with severe learning disabilities

The Government should make it easier for people to become a deputy for a person with severe learning disabilities. This should include removing all fees for becoming and acting as a deputy, and making it possible to be appointed as a deputy without needing a court order or solicitor.

More details

I have an adult son with severe learning difficulties, but I cannot afford to become a Health and Welfare deputy without going into debt, and not being recognised as a deputy makes it difficult to ensure my son gets the support and treatment he needs.

The Government should make it easier for people to become deputies for a person with severe learning disabilities so the cost and bureaucracy of doing so does not adversely affect people with these disabilities, or those that care for them.
