Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Under the Licensing Act 2003 it is up to individual local authorities, not the Government or House of Commons, to set opening hours for hospitality venues in particular localities.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to permit all hospitality venues to open for extended hours after the pandemic, but you would need to be clear exactly what changes you wanted the Government to make to licensing rules. You would also need to provide your full name.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
