Rejected petition Allow 2nd booked Pfizer vaccination to proceed for those vaccinated by 31/12/20
Allow all those people who had their first dose of the COVID vaccination prior to the government announcing the change to a 12 week gap on 30/12/20 to have their second dose as planned on their already booked appointment dates of 3 weeks after their first dose.

Both my parents,who are in their 80’s, and my sister in law, who works in a care home,are amongst the group of people brave enough to be the first to have the Pfizer COVID vaccination on 21/12/20. They did it on the agreement that their second one would be 3 weeks later. Concerns are Pfizer only tested the vaccine with a 3 week gap between doses and therefore the consequence of a 12 week gap is unknown and what happens if there is a supply issue of the Pfizer vaccination after the 12 weeks gap.

The delays to receiving the second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine has been implemented by the NHS following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), which advises UK health departments on immunisation, which has also been supported by the UK's four Chief Medical Officers. Their new advice and the changes to the Covid-19 vaccination programme are consistent with the temporary authorisations granted for these vaccines by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
The JCVI, Chief Medical Officers, MHRA and NHS England are all independent and operationally independent of the UK Government, so we cannot accept petitions calling for actions that these bodies are responsible for.
