We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Rejected petition Implement a Zero Covid Strategy

Social freedom, economic prosperity and public health are better served by Zero Covid. Countries like New Zealand, Australia, and Taiwan implemented Zero Covid strategies to eliminate Covid-19. The Government should learn from them and implement effective measures to get life back to normal.

More details

The Government chose to try to live with the virus, which has resulted in long restrictions on freedom, and one of the worst mortality rates and economic performances in the world. Countries that chose to eliminate the virus have greater freedom, fared better economically and suffered less loss of life.

The emergence of new variants risks jeopardising vaccines. Adopting a Zero Covid strategy increases the chances of vaccines succeeding, and is the quickest way of getting life back to normal.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. If you'd like the Government to approach a different strategy, you'll need to set out what actions you would like them to take.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
