Closed petition Drastically ease lockdown once the most vulnerable have been vaccinated

By February 15th the Government expects the top 4 priority groups, accounting for 88% of COVID deaths, to be vaccinated. By the spring the Government plans for all 9 high-risk groups accounting for 99% of COVID deaths to be vaccinated. Once that has happened, lockdown should be scaled back.

The UK government has done a good job approving vaccines, and getting to work vaccinating the population, but we cannot make the good the enemy of the perfect: society and the economy have been flattened by the pandemic, young people are missing out on proper education and jobs, there is a MH strain on everyone, and business is suffering drastically. The government must commit to an end date for lockdown, to allow the economy and society to return to normal, and it should be once those most at risk have been vaccinated.
