Rejected petition Leave unpaid CCJ’s on credit files until they are paid off in full.

Rejected on

Scrap the current 6 year rule for All unpaid CCJ’s to be removed from the offender’s credit files. Leave CCJ’s on credit profiles until paid off in full.

Currently the system in place is not adequate. Offenders do not pay the debts knowing their ccj will be cleared from their Credit profile in 6 years. They then proceed to re-offend. The debt should be pAid off in full otherwise it should remain a debt On their profile for life. This should assist in the debts being paid more promptly & if not, it will protect Others from fraud in the future.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

The preparation and scoring of credit reports is a matter for individual credit reference agencies in cooperation with lenders, not the Government or Parliament.

We could accept a petition about increasing the length of time unpaid CCJs remain on the Register of Judgement, which is maintained by the courts, and is why credit companies get information about unpaid CCJs.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
