Do not give in to libertarian political pressure to ease the lockdown too soon as this could undo the gains made against the Covid-19 virus and lead to more deaths. Heed the expert advice. Recognise the salient and repeated lesson of this crisis: A healthy economy is dependent on a healthy nation.

We must give the vaccines the chance they deserve to achieve a level of herd immunity, not the give the virus the opportunity to outwit science by encouraging an environment conducive to transmission and further mutations. Life matters, the economy matters, livelihoods matter - easing the lockdown a day too soon would mean more loss of life, more lockdown and ultimately more damage to livelihoods and the economy. Too soon would be deadly, short-termist and a false economy.
