Rejected petition A stricter procedure in place for MPs who fall asleep in the House of Commons.

Parliament needs to update their code of conducts to be less vague to minimise the potential loss of integrity of the House of Commons in situations such as MPs falling asleep.

We've seen how MPs act in Parliament & it's becoming clear that the code of conduct needs updating.

More details

This petition refers specifically to #17 of the Rules of Conduct - 'Members shall never undertake any action which would cause significant damage to the reputation & integrity of the House of Commons as a whole, or of its Members generally'

The Code of Conduct describes the responsibilities that MPs have as Members of the House & are based on a set of principles.

This will mean that Parliament will be able to enforce stricter regulations towards MPs therefore upholding Parliament's integrity.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We understand you would like changes to paragraph 16 of the rules of conduct, but we're not sure whether you'd like this to be amended to specifically include 'sleeping' or something different.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
