We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Increase adoptees’ right to revoke own adoption

We call on the UK Government to make it easier for all adult adoptees to seek legalised emancipation / revocation from their respective adoptive parents and to do so under the Children’s Act as laid out within UK legislation and the Rights of the Child.

More details

We ask that the Adoption Act be amended to make it much easier for adopted children to have their own adoption revoked when they reach the age of 18. Financial support should also be made available under Legal Aid and/or Adoption support fund, for example. Adoptees should be allowed the right to choose their own family, a right previously not afforded them as a minor unless under very limited circumstances.
