Closed petition Tougher Laws/Penalties to tackle theft of Catalytic Converters

The Government should increase criminal penalties for theft of catalytic converters, and introduce new requirements and regulation on sale and trade of catalytic converters, to help deter this heinous crime.

After witnessing the theft of a catalytic converter, this is no "new" thing but as of late, this lawless crime is on the increase. Many perpetrators have audacity to steal in broad daylight, bearing arms. The crime affects many households that are already struggling during these challenging times, particularly when they depend on a vehicle which will need expensive repairs. Something needs to be done!
