Closed Impose a 50p surcharge on clothes hangers

The Government should ban clothes hangers being given away free with clothes, and require retailers to add a 50p per clothes hanger surcharge.

Millions of clothes hangers are used each year in the UK, and far too many of these are simply thrown away, rather than being reused or recycled.

Imposing a surcharge for clothes hangers would help raise awareness of the environmental impact of clothes hangers, and help fund initiatives to enable reuse/recycling or tackle environmental impacts.
