Closed petition Extend Embryo Destruction statutory cooling-off period by 1-year due to COVID

COVID National Restrictions and court closures have meant the statutory 1-year cooling-off period following order to Destroy Embryos against one parties’ will has not been able to be utilised.

With many lawyers not accepting work, courts closed, national travel restrictions, face-face mediation has been impossible. Like many women, the law has put me in a position where I have had to fertilise my PRIVATELY harvested eggs due to the seemingly-arbitrary 10 year egg thawing law. This situation has put me at great personal risk. Less than a year after creation 5-day embryos (foetus/placenta visible) are to be destroyed. For me, and many others including those with cancer, storing embryos can be the ONLY chance to have a child.
