A debate and vote on a motion that will lead to Team GB boycotting the Winter Olympics in 2022 as the Chinese government’s treatment of Uigher peoples and Hong Kong is incompatible with the spirit of the games and our own democratic standards.

The treatment of the Uigher minority in China and the people of Hong Kong is against ever principle we stand for as a nation and in incompatible with the spirit of the Olympic movement.
The games are a propaganda instrument for the Chinese regime and to attend would give tacit acceptance of their actions.
Attendance is morally wrong.

Deciding whether to participate in the winter Olympics is a matter for the British Olympic Association, not the Government or House of Commons.

The Government could agree not to send any official representatives to the witner Olympics, so we could accept a petition requesting this, if that is what you want to happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
