Petitions on this site often provide a very one-sided response with over exposure to vocal minorities while the silent majority, who still care, is left without an easy way of participating.
An existing option is to create an opposing petition, but this requires more effort and therefore discourages a balanced response. It often also results in the creation of multiple opposing petitions, fragmenting the overall response on a topic across multiple petitions with different wording and end dates
