We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Alter the Union Flag to include something that represents Wales

The Union Flag does not contain any symbol representing Wales. To symbolise our Great Union we should produce an updated flag which does.

More details

At the time of the creation of the first Union Flag in 1606, Wales was considered a Principality of England. But things have moved on:
- Since 1948, many laws passed in Parliament are designated as applicable to "England and Wales".
- In 1998 the National Assembly for Wales was established.
- In 2011 Wales was recognised as a separate country by the International Standards Association.

The Union Flag should be a symbol of all of Great Britain. Any objections to that would be deeply unpatriotic.
