Rejected petition Allow one dedicated family member to visit patients in hospital.

One dedicated person should be able to visit family members in hospital, tests should be provided the day before the visit. Patients may have been in there for weeks/months without any family interaction and this can be impacting there mental health.

More details

For me personally, my Nan has been in hospital now for 3 months without any family communication. Her symptoms have deteriorated and the information we get from the hospital is appalling. I’m sure there are other family members who feel the same. Care homes are now allowed one dedicated visit, and I’m sure they are elderly people with health conditions. I am asking for one dedicated person to be able to visit family members in hospital. Nothing has been mentioned about this at all!

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We understand you’re concerned about hospital visiting rights for relatives, however current Covid-19 restrictions do not prohibit visiting patients in hospitals. It is for individual NHS hospitals, not the UK Government or Parliament, to decide whether and how to allow visits to continue in a Covid-secure way, based on each hospital’s individual circumstances. You can find out more about this here: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/hospitals/going-into-hospital/visiting-someone-in-hospital/.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
