Rejected petition Legal recognition of Paganism as a valid religion
I wish a debate to be held in Parliament with a view of recognising the Pagan religions, to legally recognise these faiths and legally prevent all discriminations against those who follow a Pagan faith.
More details
We ask to have our Pagan religions recognised as legitimate religions, to be valued & respected.
Our religions & ways of life are that of the oldest beliefs & practices worldwide.
Daily we are subjected to outdated and harsh discrimination & harassment from the lack of legal rights and education of our natural practices & ways of life.
As of the 2011 census there were 85,435 pagans & witches in the UK alone & those numbers will have drastically risen.
Please consider our recognition.
Blessed be.

Why was this petition rejected?
We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.
We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.
The Equality Act 2010 makes it illegal to discriminate against someone because they are of a particular religion, and the guidance published by the Equality and Human Rights Commission makes it clear this applies to smaller religions like Paganism: https://www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/advice-and-guidance/religion-or-belief-discrimination
It would be up to the courts to decide whether someone had been discriminated against because of their religious beliefs.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
