In order to class as financially independent, you need to prove you have been independent for 3 years. This means that people who are in unique situations and need financial help after college fall through a net. I want the government to reduce this from 3 years to 1 year.

When you're filling out a student finance application, you're trying to sort out your financial life for the next few years. It's common that people go straight to Uni from college- and want the correct financial help. I believe that having to be independent for three years in order to qualify as being self sufficient is a ridiculous criteria and means that people in unique situations who have been forced to live alone slip through a net and don't get the correct help they need.
