We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Extend the time period to report sexual harassment at work to a Tribunal

In discrimination cases, claims must be lodged with an Employment Tribunal within three months (minus one day) of the act or acts of discrimination (such as the incidents of sexual harassment) about which you are complaining. This is simply not enough time for that this is a traumatising experience.

More details

Sexual assault, harassment and rape are incredibly traumatising, and we’ve all seen how long it can take victims to come forward, imagine how difficult that is when you work with the person. It is completely unfair and incredibly disrespectful to expect victims to be able to report this to an Employment Tribunal within three months in every single one of these cases, some people will need to heal before they can talk about it, or may fear the consequences if they do.
