Abolish the counties of Greater Manchester, Merseyside, South Yorkshire, Tyne & Wear, West Midlands, and West Yorkshire, respectively.

Create unitary authorities or county districts from existing metropolitan boroughs within their traditional ceremonial counties.

The existence of Metropolitan Counties is no longer necessary since the 1986 abolition of their respective county councils and existing structures has left an anomaly in English Local Government.
