Closed petition Ban the dissection of animals in schools, colleges and universities

Ban animal dissections from schools, colleges and universities. These could be replaced with; Computer programs, Videotapes, Slides, Books and manuals, Online virtual dissection kits.

More details

Not only is animal dissection as old-fashioned as using an abacus—it can actually deter students from science.

Many animals used for dissection suffer greatly before being shipped to schools and used in a school lesson. Every year, millions of frogs are taken from their homes in the wild. Baby pigs are cut from their mothers’ wombs in slaughterhouses. Rabbits, mice, rats, and other small animals are bred in warehouses and never allowed to experience a happy or natural life. Instead, their whole lives are spent in cramped cages until it’s time to be killed for dissection.
