Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Fund corrosive testing kits for police forces to help tackle acid attacks

Police, and other emergency services, should receive funding for corrosive substance testing kits to help strengthen street searches and tackle acid attacks.

More details

This could help decrease the incidence of crime and increase the response rate when identifying the nature of attack.

Acid attacks are one of the most torturous and brutal forms of attack, carried out using one of the cheapest, most accessible weapons. Corrosive substances are easy to conceal/mask and can go under the radar in police searches.

The aim of this torture method is to maim or kill, and the consequences survivors deal with are severely debilitating. This can include blindness, respiratory issues, burns, scars, societal judgement, occupational loss, psychological problems and more.
