Closed petition Stop discrimination against people renting with Housing Benefit & other benefits

Although the Supreme Court has ruled that it is unlawful and discrimination for lettings agents, landlords and mortgage companies to refuse to rent to people who pay their rent with Housing Benefit/Local Housing Allowance, a very high number of adverts for homes to rent still state "No DSS".

More details

The discrimination against people paying rent with Housing Benefit and/or other benefits directly affects where people can and cannot live. The government need to put a stop to this by bringing in legislation and prevent landlords, letting agents and mortgage companies from stating that they will not accept tenants who pay with benefits like Housing Benefit. Some claimants have no other option than to pay their rent with Housing Benefit due to disability. This situation affects their disability too.
