Closed petition Don’t require restaurants and cafes to display calorie counts on menus
Closed on
The Government should abandon plans to require restaurants and cafes to display calorie counts on their menus. Such legislation could be extremely harmful to society given the strong association between eating disorders and calorie counting.
Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder. Stop this destructive piece of legislation.
This highly destructive piece of legislation completely disregards, and is ignorant towards, the up-to 3.4 million people affected by eating disorders. This legislation has the strong potential to increase the amount of people suffering with an eating disorder in the UK, an area of mental health which according to one estimate costs the UK £15 billion a year.
