Closed petition Raise awareness of the risk of Placenta Accreta after a caesarean section
Closed on
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists published guidelines in 2009 that consent forms given to women undergoing caesarean sections should include information on the risk of Placenta Accreta in future pregnancies. This is not being done and we need more awareness of this condition.
The Government should fund an awareness campaign to inform women of the increased risk of Placenta Accreta after a caesarean section. Up to 1 in 300 pregnancies can result in Placenta Accreta, potentially leading to hysterectomy, haemorrhage, premature births, and even death of mother and/or baby. More awareness about the risk of Placenta Accreta is imperative so that women can make informed decisions about future pregnancies. We have lost too many women and babies to this condition.
