Closed petition Ban the sale and use of single use cups

2.5billion coffee cups are used every year in the UK. Cafes and restaurants should be banned from using these and should only be able to sell to customers who bring their own resuable cup
Businesses could sell sensibly sourced reusable cups to customers who do not yet have their own reusable cup

The wasteful consumption of billions of coffee cups a year could be easily avoided by introducing a ban on these single use cups
Coffee cups are extremely difficult to recycle which means the majority of them end up in landfill or worse, littering streets or the countryside
Transitioning to a circular based system of consumption is essential to tackling the many issues around waste and littering
This is a small lifestyle change that has the potential to have worthwile and longlasting impact
