Closed petition Require all alcohol bottles/cans to include details of a mental health helpline

I would like all bottles/cans of alcohol to have a telephone number for a 24/7 mental health helpline somewhere on them that is clear to see.

More details

This is following the sudden death of my sister. Georgia was only 24 and died on the 15th of May following a heavy night of drinking

I feel as though had my sister seen a telephone number somewhere to offer help it could of possibly been a different story.

Share your experiences of alcohol harm for a debate on 25 November

On Thursday 25 November, MPs Dan Carden and Derek Thomas will lead a debate in Parliament on alcohol harm.

To inform the debate, Dan Carden wants to hear about your experiences and ideas for what further support could help individuals and families dealing with problematic alcohol use. He may quote your contribution directly during the debate.

Find out more and share your experiences with him here:
https://ukparliament.shorthandstories.com/alcohol-harm/index.html

Videos of the debate, the transcript and other relevant material will be accessible on this webpage from 25 November.

The deadline for contributions is midday, Wednesday 24 November.

What are backbench business debates?

The subject for the debate was nominated by the Backbench Business Committee.

Backbench business debates give backbenchers (MPs who aren’t ministers or shadow ministers) an opportunity to secure a debate on a topic of their choice, either in the Chamber or Westminster Hall.

MPs can make a request for a debate to the Backbench Business Committee, who hears and decides which debates to schedule.

Backbench debates can either be general debates (which do not end in a vote) or be on a substantive motion (which calls for an action and can end in a vote).
