Closed petition Allow a limited amount of hemp on allotments without a licence

Hemp is an established crop in Britain and is a source of essential omega oils and protein.

More details

Remove restrictions preventing gardeners from growing a nutritious food source on land designated for food cultivation, to allow food cultivation of Hemp on allotments a non-commercial scale.

Hemp is a health food and very good for bees.

Allotment keepers are already governed by local councils and are regularly inspected to ensure they are being cultivated and cared for.

The Home Office only allows cultivation of hemp from approved seed types with a THC content not exceeding 0.2%, but even then a licence is required.

It is not right that this crop can only be grown with a licence.
