We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Fake Claim Campaign: End The Harassment Of People With Invisible Disabilities

The Government should:

- Conduct a review of harassment faced by people with invisible disabilities

More details

- Make "Fake Claiming" a specific criminal offence

- “Include the letter "A" for accessibility in the symbol for accessible facilities in all Government buildings, alongside the wheelchair symbol"

Despite the majority of Disabled people having disabilities that cannot be seen ("invisible disabilities") there are still widespread misconceptions about disability.

Because of this, Disabled people face harassment in public places by people who "Fake Claim" them, and do not acknowledge their disability.

Fake Claiming prevents access to services such as accessible parking spaces, accessible toilets, seats on public transport and other assistance, and can lead to threats and abuse when accessing them.
