Rejected petition Take a Stand Against Social Media Companies. Hold them accountable. Stand up.

Take a stand against social media sites claiming they are not responsible for content published by people. If I put something racist, or threatening in a newspaper you would hold both them & me responsible.
Allowing foreign countries to break laws.
Freedom of Speech is not an excuse.

More details

The social media (Facebook & Twitter) are taking on governments around the world and no one has taken a stand. The government currently will not be brave and make a law putting the responsibility on the social media companies.

They are blameless when crime is done on their sites, people hide anonymously when being racist.

It is time to bring the social media sites under a law in United Kingdom they have to abide by.

It must cover Racism, Grooming, Online Threats, Stalking, Bullying more

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand you're concerned about abuse on social media, however it's not clear what you want the Government to do in order to hold social media companies 'accountable', nor what the proposed 'law... they have to abide by' would be.
