Closed petition Run a public awareness campaign on the signs of domestic abuse

The Government should organise a public awareness campaign, including television adverts, to help people at home recognise when they are experiencing domestic abuse, including coercive and controlling situations. This could also help abusers recognise that their behaviour will not be tolerated.

I was coerced and controlled in an abusive relationship/marriage for 19 years. It took me 25 years to find the courage to talk publicly about my own experience. I have so much feedback on all my social media platforms, of people who have been, or are, trapped in similar positions. Something needs to get into these homes and relationships to help. People are still dying as a result of domestic abuse.
