Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Ban non-stun slaughter. Animal welfare must always take priority

Twelve countries have either banned non-stun slaughter or placed restrictions, justifying these measures on the grounds of animal welfare. The UK should end unnecessary cruelty and suffering by banning non-stun slaughter with no exemption

More details

Many animal welfare and veterinary organisations support a ban on non-stun slaughter. Consumers are eating these meat products without their knowledge in restaurants, takeaway outlets, schools, hospitals, sports outlets, tinned and frozen foods. This infringes the rights of consumers who do not want to eat meat from animals killed in this way.
