Closed petition Abandon new rules for towing a trailer or caravan with a car from autumn 2021

Towing trailers up to 3,500kg MAM without taking a car and trailer test should be re-considered immediately.

More details

Completely removing the test seems a complete disregard for road safety. An easier test or compulsory training course could replace it.

MPs debate trailer and towing safety

On Thursday 21 March, MPs took part in an adjournment debate on trailer and towing safety.

The debate was led by Karin Symth MP. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Transport, Guy Opperman MP, responded to the debate on behalf of the Government.

What are Adjournment debates?

Adjournment debates are general debates which do not end in a vote. They give a backbench MP the opportunity to raise an issue and receive a response from a government minister.
