Rejected petition REINSTATE GRANDFATHER LICENCE FOR PEOPLE TO DRIVE 7.5T LORRYS WITH NO TEST
The country is struggling for HGV drivers, surely the common sense thing to do is reinstate the grandfather licence to allow car drivers to drive a class 2 lorry with no test. This will open up more availability of drivers to fill the void even if you cap it of five years of driving experience.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you want it to be easier for people to drive HGVs, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. "Grandfather rights" to drive HGVs are for people who secured their driving licence before 2009, because that it when the requirement to attain a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) was brought in. These rights still exist, so we're not sure what you mean by asking for these to be reinstated.
If what you want is for the Government to give anyone with a driving licence the right to drive 7.5 tonne HGVs, we could accept a petition requesting this.
