Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Make it a legal requirement for employers to offer prayer breaks

Many religious people are required to pray during the day, including Muslims who are required to offer five daily prayers, at least one of which might fall into the working shift.

More details

Employees shouldn't have to sacrifice lunch time to go pray. Or have to compromise a lunch slot purely because that is the only time they can go pray.

Currently there is no legal requirement for employers to allow time off in the working day for prayer breaks. There is also no requirement to change working patterns to allow for prayer breaks at particular times of the day. For many religious people, prayer is a basic bare necessity.

Therefore, We would request to make it mandatory to allow time to pray in the work place without having to feel guilty even if it is a capped amount of time.
