Closed petition Review how the rights of trans and non-binary people are respected in sport
Closed on
The Government should commission a review to look at how the rights of trans and non-binary people are, and can be better, respected in sport.
Recently released guidance from a group of sports bodies concluded that ‘inclusion of transgender people into female sport cannot be balanced' with 'inclusion, fairness and safety in gender-affected sport where there is meaningful competition.' The Government must act to ensure that governing bodies are instead encouraged to prioritise trans and non-binary people’s right to inclusion.
The Olympic Charter states ‘The practice of sport is a human right'. Being trans or non-binary is not a choice, and every trans and non-binary person has the right to play sport, without fear of prejudice or discrimination.
