Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Require food items to display information relating to their carbon footprint
The government should pass laws to make sure supermarkets and other food sellers publish clearly the carbon footprint of each item, including the air miles required. This should be done in a traffic light system in order to increase consumer awareness of the carbon footprint of our diets.
More details
With climate change becoming a significant threat to this planet, the government should implement this to allow consumers to shop in a more eco-friendly way by seeing the impact their purchases have on the planet. The aim is to encourage people to buy items that are grown locally, and to encourage people to pick produce that has travelled the fewest air miles.
