Closed petition Ease immigration rules for construction workers to mitigate impact of Brexit

In January 2021 it was estimated that the UK construction market has lost a quarter of its EU-born workforce.

The Government should ease immigration rules for construction workers, so that migrants with the required skills can move to the UK freely to work.

More details

The Government is asked to allow construction workers to come work in the UK without a sponsor visa and the current restrictions to ensure the continuous growth of the construction industry, and therefore of our economy.

To help our economy recover and grow we need a thriving construction industry and to loosen our immigration rules.

Please support the construction industry and the economy by signing this petition today.

MPs debate visas for industries experiencing labour and skills shortages

On Tuesday 8 November MPs debated the idea of a temporary recovery visa for industries experiencing labour and skills shortages. This was a Westminster Hall debate, led by Tim Farron MP.

What are Westminster Hall debates?

Westminster Hall is the second chamber of the House of Commons. Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to raise local and national issues and receive a response from a government minister. Westminster Hall debates do not end in a vote.
