Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Require all new tall buildings to have pumped storage systems

The Government should require all new buildings of a certain height to have pumped storage systems, where excess power can be used to pump water to roof tanks, to be released (when renewables output falls) into basement water turbines . This is a smaller local version of "Electric Mountain" in Wales

More details

This should help overcome the problems of storing excess power from renewables, for the times when the wind is not blowing or it's night-time. All technology exists now.

Architects could incorporate this in their designs e.g. in an atrium with transparent tubing.

The water could also be used as a reservoir during droughts, and to supply sprinklers in case of fire.
