Closed Offer student finance in monthly instalments

The Government should provide students with the option to receive their student finance (loans and maintenance grants) in 9 monthly payments, in addition to the current system of 3 payments, so we can budget effectively and pay monthly bills. This is already in place in Scotland.

The student finance schedule should match the accommodation fee schedule: 3 payments are fine for students who can pay their accommodation in 3 instalments, but many students are required to pay rent monthly, and so 3 payments is illogical. This current system is unnecessarily forcing many young people to manage large sums of money for long periods of time, which can have a severe impact on their financial and mental well-being.
