Closed Make those who have paid class 1 NI for 5 years eligible for ILR

The Government should make those who have paid Class 1 National Insurance contributions and PAYE tax for 5 years or more eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain in UK.

For the welfare of non-UK nationals living here, many of whom have made the UK their home, and have settled and dedicated their time to learn about life in the UK, and are able to speak English and are of good character.

This change could also create potential tax benefits, with nationals gaining ILR more likely to spend in the UK rather than sending the money back to home country.

Ability to retain the long-trusted talent and capability.
