Closed petition Give foreign nationals who served in the Armed Forces rights to remain in the UK

The UK Government should give all foreign nationals who have served in the British Armed Forces the right to remain in the UK. Commonwealth ex-servicemen may be eligible for indefinite leave to remain in the UK after 4 years’ service, but must apply for leave to remain after they are discharged.

More details

We believe the Government should automatically grant rights to remain in the UK to all foreign nationals who served in the Armed Forces. This should include those who are currently facing deportation.

These nationals were part of the Armed Forces and have every right to live permanently in the Country they fought to protect.

What are Westminster Hall debates?

Westminster Hall is the second Chamber of the House of Commons.

Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to raise local or national issues and receive a response from a government minister. Any MP can take part in a Westminster Hall debate.

Debates in Westminster Hall take place on ‘general debate' motions expressed in neutral terms. These motions are worded ‘That this House has considered [a specific matter]'.
