Closed Ban the use of whips in horse racing

The Government should ban any and all use of whips in horse racing. Too much misery, pain and suffering has been caused already.

A ban on the whip is supported by campaign bodies including Animal Aid, PETA, and Horse Racing Kills.

    MPs debate the future of horseracing

    On Wednesday 25 October, MPs took part in a Westminster Hall debate on the future of horseracing. The debate was led by Matt Hancock MP, and featured discussion of animal welfare standards in the industry. Culture Minister Stuart Andrew MP responded to the debate on behalf of the Government.
