Closed petition Give employees the right to choose who accompanies them to disciplinary meetings

Amend Employment 1999 Act Section 10 to give employees the right to choose anyone to accompany them to disciplinary meetings with their employer.

More details

Currently the law says you only have a right to be accompanied by a colleague, a trade union representative, or an official employed by a trade union.

Employees can request to be accompanied by someone else, but their employer does not have to agree.

Not everyone can afford or feels the need to join the Union, but employees should not be restricted on who they can call to accompany them or present their case.
